Big Brother/Big Sister School

Feb 16; Apr 19, 2012: 6 to 7pm at SMMC
Free. Introduce your children, age three to six years old, to their new role as a sibling to a newborn. They’ll visit our birthing suite, watch a video, and talk about becoming big brothers or sisters. *Please bring a stuffed animal or doll for holding and diapering. Pre-registration required, please call 283-7350.

Breastfeeding Class

Jan 24; Feb 28; Mar 27: 6 to 8pm at SMMC
Free. This class, presented by one of SMMC’s Board Certified Lactation Consultants, will cover how to breastfeed your baby, what's normal, and where to get help if needed. Pre-registration required, please call 283-7350.

Childbirth Education Series

These classes will cover a variety of the birth information, as well as pain control, stages of labor, * positions, * breathing and much more. Let us help you become informed so you can create realistic goals and expectations for your most perfect day. MANY class dates offered - Please call for a complete list of dates. Specify what class when calling to inquire and register. Pre-payment is requested.
- Celebrating Birth * ~ One Day, held monthly on Saturday 9:00am-4:00pm (Jan 14; Feb 25; Mar 31), or,
- Make Way for Baby * ~ 3 week series Wednesday evenings from 6:30-9:00pm (Jan 4-11-18; Mar 28, Apr 4-11)
* Expectant mothers should be in their last trimester. 32-38 weeks pregnant; Fee: One Day or 3-week series $75.00.

Fast Pass to Home - Discharge Class

Jan 9; Feb 20; Mar 26
Discuss Postpartum Care for the new Mom, as well as basic newborn care. This will help expedite the discharge process from the Birthing Suite once you have delivered your baby and wish to go home. Free incentive gift upon completion - Free.

Maine Child Passenger Safety Seat Program
SMMC is a Maine Voucher Site, providing income-eligible families with free car seats, in addition to instruction on proper car seat use and installation. For more information, please call SMMC's Certified Passenger Safety Technician, at (207) 283-7352.

Safe Baby - Infant Safety & Infant/Toddler CPR

Jan 26; Feb 23; Mar 29: 6 to 9pm at SMMC
This class provides a non-certificate course by the American Heart Association to family and friends, as well as basic home safety for your baby as they grow. Fee: $25/couple; $15/person. Pre-registration required, please call 283-7350.

Safe Travels - Car Seat Information

This class is designed to help parents/grandparents understand the importance of proper car seat use. Please bring your car owners manual/car seat manual and car seat (if you have already purchased a car seat). Pre-registration required, please call 283-7350.

The "Grand" Parent
Feb 13; Apr 9; June 5: 6 to 8pm at SMMC
A class for grandparents-to-be. Grandma/Grandpa, Nana/Pop, Mémère/Pépère, what's your name going to be? Information to prepare you for your baby's baby. So many changes and so many choices. Come join us to learn basic Infant CPR, Car Seat Safety and review new information since your child was a newborn. Free - Pre-registration required, please call 283-7350.

or at one of SMMC's Diagnostic and Therapy Centers in Saco (13 Industrial Park Road), Kennebunk (4 Shape Drive) and Biddeford (9 Healthcare Drive). Locations are noted as either Biddeford-SMMC, SMMC Visiting Nurses, Saco, or Kennebunk. Other venues are clearly specified. Unless otherwise noted, there is
