  • Macrobiotic Cooking Classes
    4th Saturday of each month, 10:30am - 12:30pm. No cost to cancer patients thanks to a private donor.

    Macrobiotics is a natural approach to health and sickness. A macrobiotic diet consists of whole foods and cooking techniques brimming with health giving qualities. Presented by Macrobiotic Master Chef Connie Arnold. Due to limited space, pre-registration is required; please call 283-7575.

    Free program offered by the American Cancer Society, designed to lift the spirits of women who are experiencing the appearance- related side effects of cancer treatments. Pre-registration required, call 490-7777.

  • All Cancer Survivors Support Group
    2nd Wednesday of every month, 6 - 7:30pm.
    Ambulatory Behavioral Health, 291 Alfred Street, Biddeford.
    A wonderful way to connect with people going through similar situations brought on by living with cancer. Every other month we will be hosting a speaker who will lead our discussion on different topics of interest. For cancer patients and their family & friends.   • Qi Gong / Lebed Method / Healing Through Art
    Most Mondays, except holidays, 4:30 to 5:30pm.

  • Smoking Cessation Program: "Be Tobacco Free"
    Every Monday, 5 to 6pm, SMMC Cardiopulmonary Gym
    Cost: $150. Individualized plans address the addiction, habits, and behaviors associated with the process of quitting. Pre-registration required; call Deb Brown at 283-7908, or Chris Rossi at 283-7798.

    Lunch and Learn - Depression in the Later Years
  • Wednesday, July 30; 1130am - 1pm; 72 Main Street, Kennebunk, ME.

  • Free. The session, which is specifically designed for persons 65 years of age and older and their guests and caregivers, will be held on Wednesday, July 30 from 11:30am - 1:00pm at the conference room at SMMC Visiting Nurses, 72 Main St in Kennebunk (next to Marlow’s). Lunch will be provided, and there is no charge for attending.

    The speaker, Dr. Charlotte Paolini, D.O., teaches the Geriatric Practicum to medical students at UNE College of Medicine, and practices clinical geriatrics with the University Health Center’s MatureCare practice. Dr. Paolini is also Medical Director of UNE’s Maine Geriatric Education Center.

    Identifying depression in the elderly: the symptoms, causes, risk factors and treatment for depression, and the available resources to cope with the condition will be discussed. Any senior or caregiver who is concerned about depression in persons 65 and older is invited to attend. Persons planning to participate need to preregister by calling SMMC Visiting Nurses at 985-1000 by July 23. Space is limited, and available on a first come, first serve basis. Funding for this program is provided by the Huntington Common Charitable Fund for Seniors of the Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation.

    Cholesterol Screenings
  • 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month; 8am - 1pm; 72 Main Street, Kennebunk, ME.

  • Cost: $15. Our Registered Nurse will check your cholesterol and blood pressure and counsel you about risk factors for heart disease and stroke. The nurse will review the American Heart Association guidelines and help you understand how your screening results "measure up."
