H1N1 Flu Clinic Updates

  • H1N1 and Seasonal flu shots are available at the SMMC Visiting Nurses Walk-in Clinic at 72 Main St., Kennebunk: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 8:00am-1:00pm. Additional clinics will be scheduled throughout January, February and March. There is a $10 administrative charge for the H1N1 vaccine; Seasonal Flu Shots are $30 ($10 per child) and Pneumonia Shots are $45. Medicare Part B covers flu immunizations. Please call the Flu Hotline, (207) 283-6868, for more information and updates.
Some Simple Steps to Help Avoid Spreading the Flu
  • Get vaccinated;
  • Cover your nose and mouth with tissue or your sleeve when you cough or sneeze;
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water aren’t available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth;
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people;
  • If you’re sick with flu-like illness, stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or other necessities. (Your fever should be gone without use of a fever-reducing medicine);
  • While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible.
When to Seek Medical Attention
  • Contact your health care provider if there are flu-like symptoms in a household where anyone is younger than 2 years old, 65 years or older, pregnant, and/or has an underlying medical condition. There are prescription medicines (antivirals such as Tamiflu®) that may help. The state’s stockpile of these medicines is also available to those who do not have adequate insurance and cannot afford the costs.
  • Although most people can stay home to recover without seeing a health care provider, anyone with the flu should seek medical attention for:
    • Dehydration
    • Trouble breathing
    • Getting better, then suddenly getting a lot worse
    • Any major change in one’s condition
