| The registered nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit provides intensive
observation and care of patients following a procedure for which an anesthetic
agent has been required. When the effects or potential complications of
anesthesia have been eliminated, the nurse returns the patient to the
appropriate unit, reviewing the post-operative orders and care given in the
PACU with the responsible unit nurse. He/she prepares and maintains the PACU
in a state of readiness for all emergencies, assuring a clean, safe, and
orderly environment.

| Qualifications: Graduation from accredited school of nursing. Current License by Maine State
Board of Nursing. BLS and ACLS certified. Acquires and maintains proficiency
in unit-specific competencies.
PACU and CCU experience preferred, or at least one year medical-surgical
nursing.
