| The Manager supports and collaborates with the Director to manage the department staff activities and improve service. Has 24 hour responsibility for the staff of the Health Information Services section of HIMS and the work output. The Manager's work activities will encompass 25% of the total time; direct service activities will encompass 75% of the total work time.

| Qualifications: Two year College degree required, four year degree highly desirable. ART or RRA certification required. Technical knowledge of medical records procedures and legal issues, knowledge and skills in coding with ICD-9-CM and CPT-4, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and the essentials of medicine preferred. Requires computer keyboarding skills. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to assume
operational problems and take effective corrective action when necessary. Must be knowledgeable in the current JCAHO and State of Maine Department of Human Services rules and regulations relating to medical records.
At least three years experience as a Supervisor in a Medical Records environment. One to two years experience with the use of computerized medical records, diagnostic coding master patients indexing, chart location/record delinquency systems required. Prior experience with microfiche, and optical storage systems highly desirable.
