The Thomaston Place Auction Galleries Mobile Appraisal Laboratory.
Antiques Appraisal Benefit: September 24
YORK COUNTY, MAINE – On Thursday, September 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Southern Maine Medical Center (SMMC) Auxiliary will host a visit by Thomaston Place Auction Galleries’ Mobile Appraisal Coach at the American Legion Post 159 on Route 9 in Cape Porpoise. The “Antique Charity Appraisal Day” will feature instant, onsite appraisals of antique or collectible items by Thomaston Place’s Kaja Veilleux and John Bottero. The cost will be $8.00 for one or $20 for three items appraised, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Southern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary.

“I am very excited that this internationally known auction and appraisal company has once again chosen to come to our town and donate their services to help us raise needed funds,” stated President of the SMMC Auxiliary Doris Buonomo. “This is a wonderful opportunity for people to find out what their family heirlooms and household treasures are worth, while supporting Southern Maine Medical Center at the same time. I hope many folks will stop by to participate in this fun and worthwhile event to help us to raise funds for needed patient programs and services.”

Thomaston Place Auction Galleries’ Mobile Appraisal Laboratory is the first-of-its-kind, 36-foot-long motor coach equipped with state of the art appraisal tools and reference materials. Kaja Veilleux, President of Thomaston Place, noted, “We have been doing appraisals every week at our Thomaston Gallery for over 20 years. Now, we are very excited to be able to take this service on the road and support the worthwhile efforts of the SMMC Auxiliary.”

Participants are encouraged to bring any items that they want to have appraised to the event. If items are too large to be transported to the coach, detailed photographs can be used to determine their approximate value. There are no appointments, and each person will have a chance to meet the appraiser on a first come, first served basis. For more information, contact Auxilian Eleanor Whitehouse at 207-967-3860.
